Suttons Seeds - Tomato 'San Marzano 2 (Indeterminate)'

Favoured by chefs, use to make paste or sauce, fewer seeds, great for pizzas. Sowing time February-April. Harvest July-September. Plum fruited variety. Deep red skins, meaty flesh and unsurpassable for making sauces!

(Cordon variety - one stem grown by pinching off side-shoots as they appear, needs staking and tying in.)

Growing Information

For greenhouse crops, sow Feb-April under glass 18-21°C (65-70°F). Grow in borders, large pots, or growing bags. For outdoor crops, sow April under glass 18-21°C (65-70°F). Grow in warm, sunny positions, allowing 45-60cm (1½-2') between plants. (16-18 weeks maturity).

Sowing Information

Sow using a finely sieved, moist seed compost, covering the seed with 6mm (1/4") compost. Place in a propagator on a windowsill or in a greenhouse maintaining 18-21°C (65-70°C). Transfer seedlings individually into 7.5cm (3") pots and grow on. When first flower buds show plant out singly into 35-30cm (10-12") pots, grow bags or direct into the greenhouse border 45cm (18") apart. Support with canes and remove side shoots. Shade plants when growing in the greenhouse.
